about

Born and raised in the seaside town of San Pedro, California, Lori Skalabrin began playing piano at the age of eight and started writing her own songs at age thirteen.

After earning a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Film Studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1996, Lori continued honing her songwriting skills and began a collaboration with producer Miles Robinson, former drummer for the Grammy Award-winning recording group The 5th Dimension, to record her first demos.

That time in the studio proved to be a priceless education in both songwriting and production, and in 2005 Lori formed her own music company, Songbook Productions. Her mission is to write music that is fueled by raw emotion and honest story-telling, celebrating the marriage of stirring melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. The result: songs that walk the dichotomous lines between pain and pleasure, darkness and light, and loss and redemption.

Although Lori is classically trained, her influences are primarily rooted in modern pop and rock, drawing inspiration from iconic female songwriters such as Carole King, Jewel, Tori Amos and her two most admired influences, Ann and Nancy Wilson.

Lori’s songs, a collection of piano and guitar driven acoustic and pop ballads, are available to musical artists of all genres who are looking for original material.
